Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse...
is a place where people living with the lifelong effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI) are respected and valued as contributing community members.

Our rehabilitation focuses on the abilities, strengths and volunteer efforts of members who work side by side with staff to manage all operations of the Clubhouse.

In this supportive environment, members once again learn to contribute in meaningful ways that carry over to work, home and community.

Finally, a life-changing injury is transformed into a new normal for members and their families as they move from being a medical patient to living a full and satisfying life.

On Tuesday, June 29, WABE FM 90.1 aired a touching interview between Clubhouse member, Frank Ford, and his mom Claudia about how their lives have changed since Frank's brain injury 20 years ago.  Catch it at http://www.pba.org/all/ on the StoryCorps archive link and scroll down to June 29 to listen.

The interview was recorded in Partnership with the Storycorps Memory Loss Initiative, Brooklyn, New York

Marc worked in the roofing business before a drunk driver struck him while riding his motorcycle. His parents added a room to their home so that Marc could live with them instead of going to a nursing home. Now, seven years later he is a Special Olympics gold medalist in softball, has support to live in his own home, and makes the grits for breakfast at the Clubhouse on Fridays when he’s off from his part time job.
