This March 3 event at St Pius X Catholic High School to benefit Side by Side is really catching on. Who will win the inaugural basketball game between Atlanta’s best doctors and lawyers? Roger Kaiser will coach the docs and Rich and Randy Mahaffey the lawyers. St. Pius cheerleaders have some surprises in store to cheer on the teams!

Purchase your tickets here for Side by Side’s first annual Jawbones v. Sawbones basketball game. March 3, 2012 will pit the best lawyers against the best doctors for bragging rights for a year. This fundraiser will benefit Side by Side’s program of services to members and the community. Tickets are just $10 each.

Wanna help? We are looking for groups and individuals who would be willing to help on any or all levels of this event. We need businesses, healthcare providers, and service groups to purchase sponsorships and program advertisements; to sell tickets and raise money within their offices and organizations. We need you to help generate a spirited competition between the Jawbones team and the Sawbones team!

The inaugural Jawbones v. Sawbones game will be played March 3, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. in the gymnasium at St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta. There will be official referees, timekeepers, entertainment, local personalities, media coverage, food and the coveted trophy to be proudly held by the winning team until the next year.

Side by Side will be open Monday, January 2, at the request of several Clubhouse members. We will also be open Monday, January 16, and in honor of Dr. King’s birthday we’ll attend the King Parade in Stone Mountain Village. How fortunate are we to belong to such a heritage rich community!

The Clubhouse is a treasured and unusual resource. It provides experiences that I, as a professional, cannot. Working as part of a community, a person learns to value others, to value him or herself. The Clubhouse provides a safe and respectful space in which patients become people again.

The Clubhouse produces winners on all sides. Those who provide service and those who receive service benefit from the Clubhouse. It provides a positive environment where every member is treated as an individual and where the member is invested in the therapy offered to get that member sufficiently functional for him to re-enter society as a functioning individual.

Side By Side means so much to me and my family. As the wife of a member, I am so thankful for the role Side By Side plays in my husband’s continued growing and adapting to life with a brain injury. As a volunteer, my family is rewarded ten fold every time we do something for the clubhouse in smiles alone!
