Kanya Radford, MS, CRC, NCC
Rehabilitation Counselor
Originally from Yuma, Arizona, Kanya moved to Georgia during elementary school and has called it home ever since. She joined the Side by Side community in August 2024 as a Rehabilitation Intern, where she quickly built meaningful connections with members and found a strong sense of belonging. What began as an internship soon felt like family, and when the opportunity arose to continue with Side by Side full-time, the timing aligned perfectly with both her professional goals and the organization’s next chapter.
Kanya earned her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Georgia State University in June 2025, following an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Washington College in Maryland. Her passion has always been supporting individuals in reaching their goals. Prior to joining Side by Side, she spent five years working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Side by Side has been her introduction to the world of brain injury, and she credits the members with teaching her so much along the way.
Outside of work, Kanya enjoys traveling, attending concerts, reading, and watching movies. She is an avid crocheter and sells her work at markets around Atlanta when time allows. She is currently learning American Sign Language with the goal of becoming a certified translator. A devoted animal lover, she especially adores her dog and is always happy to share updates and photos with members when asked.
