Elizabeth “Liz” George, Esq

Liz has spent more than a decade showing up for Side by Side—with joy, creativity, generosity, and an extraordinary heart for our members. From baking hundreds of cookies to forming meaningful relationships with members, from quiet acts of personal generosity to bold leadership of fundraising initiatives, Liz has helped shape the culture of Side by Side. In 2026, Liz was awarded the Jim Long Servant Leadership Award recognizing her commitment and generosity of time, talent and treasure to the significant unmet needs of the brain injury community.

In 2012, Liz joined her husband, Parag Shah, in private practice at their firm, the Shah Law Firm, specializing in criminal defense, personal injury and civil litigation. She is currently the managing partner of the Shah Law Firm. Then, in December 2020, Judge Elizabeth Anne George was appointed to the Fulton County Magistrate court as a part-time judge. She brings with her 15 years of both criminal and civil litigation experience.

In addition to her traditional law practice, Liz has been an adjunct professor at her Alma matter—Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law—teaching winter break term courses on jury selection, cross examination, direct examination, opening and closing statements and negotiations. Liz and her husband also co-author three pocket books on Georgia law.

Although a lawyer, judge and business owner by trade, Liz’s real passions are volunteer work and trail running. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, baking, and all things fitness, particularly running and hiking in the mountains. Liz is a certified running coach and a 250 hour Registered Yoga Teacher. She has run events from 100 meters to 100 miles, including multi-day stage races through the Colorado Rockies and the German, Austrian and Italian Alps.
